A peek at the week...

Reading: Our stories this week are called A Natural Beauty, A Mountain of History, and A Landmark Street. There will be a Reading test on Friday over A Mountain of History.

The essential question: How do landmark's help us understand our country's story?

The genre: expository text

The comprehension skill: main idea and key details

The vocabulary strategy: multiple meaning words

The phonics/spelling skill:long o

The grammar skill: simple and compound sentences

English: This week we will look at simple and compound sentences. A simple sentence expresses a complete thought. They include a subject and predicate. A compound sentence contains two related sentences joined by a comma and the coordinating conjunctions: and, or, but.

Spelling: This week we will look at long o. There will be a Spelling Pretest on Monday and a Spelling Test on Friday!

Math: This week we will finish Module 1 in the Eureka Math series. This week we will look at Lessons 18-21. The End-of-Module Assessment will be next week!

Science: none

Social Studies: This week we will continue our Maps unit. We will look at maps, globes, continents, oceans, map keys and symbols, and cardinal and intermediate directions.


AR: Read, read, read! Deadline to earn 15 points is on 10/13!
